We all know that Chocolate is the ultimate comfort food! But do you know why ?
Chocolate is loaded with mood enhancing chemicals . Neuro transmitters that release endorphins in the brain to bring on feelings of happiness.
Chocolate also contains fat, which in itself provides a feeling of satisfaction since it answers the urge for calories. Especially after a long class or rehearsal! There are lots of other things chocolate is good for including protecting your blood vessels against inflammation , improving blood flow , especially to your brain, and protecting your skin with components called flavonoids and ! Chocolate can boost your vision , help with a persistent cough and even prevent diarrhoea (YUK , sorry )
However, Dark chocolate with high cacao content is best because carbohydrates that come from refined sources such as milk chocolate with a high percentage of sugar should not be used to enhance your mood. They will only cause a short-term spike in sugar levels and will leave you feeling tired later on.
Sugar negates the health benefits of the powerful antioxidants in chocolate. High Cocoa chocolate is packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals and boost circulation.
